Many states require route surveys as part of the oversize and overweight permitting approval process. The requirements and formats vary significantly from state to state. Some states provide a specific route survey form, while others only outline the information and criteria that must be documented by the surveyor.
The route survey process can also differ considerably. For example, states such as Mississippi, New York, and Texas, along with many others, generate a route survey that includes the proposed route for the surveyor to evaluate and verify. Other states require surveyors to complete a blank state-issued form, with all route information entered manually and no pre-populated data provided.
To help simplify the process, we have compiled links to route survey forms by state that are not generated during the permit application process. Please note that this list may not be all-inclusive, as state requirements, forms, and procedures can change without notice. Route America makes every effort to ensure the information provided is accurate and up to date; however, users should always verify current requirements with the appropriate state agency.
